Memorial Day

Today is Memorial Day, the last Monday of May. My parents and I went to Columbus to enjoy the holiday. So, what is Memorial Day?

U.S. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in the nation's service.Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.

I watched FOX alive news about the big ceremony of the day at Arlington National Cemetery. President Bush and his wife attended the memorial event at the Cemetery as well. I would like to present my honor to my dear friend James, who used to contribute his energy, time, and sweat to the U.S. Army. Have a nice holiday James!
